Background
We are consulting on a new bylaw regarding alcohol licensing fees in the district.
Currently, we charge the statutory fees as set out in the Sale and Supply of Alcohol Act 2012. These fees have not kept up with increases in our costs since their implementation.
What is this Bylaw about?
The proposed Bylaw would allow us to bring licensing fees in line with the increases in costs that have occurred since 2012, for both the processing and monitoring of alcohol licences.
It is proposed to take a staggered approach to increasing alcohol licensing fees, increasing fees by 25 per cent from July 1, 2025, another 25 per cent from July 1, 2026 and a 3 per cent increase from July 1, 2027 to account for rough inflation.
We want to hear from local business owners, residents, and anyone else who cares about this issue. Your feedback will help us create a bylaw that works for everyone.
