6. What actions are most important for Council to take to respond to climate change? Tick as many as apply

Grow understanding of our risks (e.g. grow knowledge of climate risks for Council assets and services , provide property owners with natural hazard information, use climate science projections in infrastructure planning)

Build resilience of Council assets to ensure we can continue to provides services to the community

Plan for changing conditions (e.g. implement water conservation measures, provide more shady/cool spaces, make room for rivers)

Initiate climate adaptation planning with communities (e.g. coordinate future focused conversations and decision-making, making choices that balance costs and benefits, understanding risk tolerance, and options to adapt)

Land-use planning (e.g. use rules in the District Plan to avoid development in hazard prone areas, require water sustainability measures, water permeable areas, low carbon/climate resilient building practices, etc.)
